Ad Hoc Beer, That Which Was On Hand


5 Gal. Tap Water
.5 LBS Light Crystal  Malt 40 LOV
1.6 oz fresh hops
6.6 LBS Light DME
1 oz Hallertauer hop pellets
1 Whirlfloc tablet
1 Safale US-05 11.5 grams yeast

Steep Crystal Malt until temperature reaches one hundred-seventy degrees Fahrenheit, then slowly add Light DME. When DME has mixed well add fresh hops. Boil for forty-five minutes.

Next add Hallertauer hops and a Whirlfloc tablet. Boil for fifteen minutes.

Cool mixture to about seventy-five degrees Fahrenheit then pour into fermenter.


Potential Alcohol by Volume: 7%
Specific Gravity: 51
Balling 14

Pitch the Safale yeast pack on top of wort. Seal and store at about 65 degrees Fahrenheit for 4-8 weeks before secondary fermentation or bottling if ready.
